Durski Sets NAIA Relief Pitcher Appearance Career Record

CALDWELL, Idaho – The College of Idaho Yotes finished the season strong at Wolfe Field with a pair of wins against the Eastern Oregon Mountaineers. The Yotes took the first game of the day 4-3 and the second game 9-7. Eight seniors were honored and senior Colby Durski set the NAIA Relief Appearance record by appearing to relief his 96th game for the Yotes after appearing in both games in the doubleheader. The record was previously set by Jason Elkins from North Georgia over the 2000—02 seasons.

The Yotes scored in the first after a wild pitch allowed Chandler Stocking to score from third base. Chandler got on base after a single out to center field and then stole second and third base. A Jordan Kelly single to left field allowed Chandler Stocking to score again as well as Dillon Danner. The Mountaineers put pressure on the Yotes after a Mario Landeros two run homer put the Mountaineers on the board for the first time. Then a Tyler Balkenbush double pushed pinch runner Carson Gerding home to tie the game. Austin Moon hit a sacrifice fly out to right field that allowed pinch runner Dawson Cummins to score the winning run.

Chandler Stocking co-led the Yotes' offense with three hits from his four at bats. Jordan Kelly also got three hits off of his four at bats and batted in a pair of Yotes. Chase Nett and Tyler Balkenbush both got a pair of hits for EOU.

Game two of the night cap started again with the Yotes scoring again in the first and again it was Chandler Stocking finding home after a Ben Gaff double found the gap between center field and right. EOU put pressure on C of I in the fifth by scoring three runs to take the lead for the first time in the day. The Yotes capitalized on two errors in the bottom of the sixth by scoring seven unearned runs. The Mountaineers mounted a valiant effort in the top of the seventh with another three-run effort but was not enough.

Tommy Whiles and Mario Landeros both got three hits for the Mountaineers. Patrick Cumberlan hit a triple for EOU. Three Yotes got a pair of hits in the contest: Chandler Stocking, Dillon Danner, and Ben Gaff. Senior Kobe Fredland earned his first ever win in a Yote uniform after fanning a pair of Mountaineers.
