Yotes Fall Again To Raiders

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – The College of Idaho Yotes dropped the last two games of the weekend series today. Tech's strong hitting led them to a 9-3 win in the final conference game of the series and a 9-4 win in non-conference play to finish the weekend.

In game one of the day, Lolo Walker doubled down the right field line, allowing Kaylee MacDaniel to run home and get the Yotes up on the board in the top of the 1st inning. The Owls responded quickly with a fiery offense that saw five runs in the bottom of the 1st. The Yotes went cold until the 5th inning when Hattie Hruza and Kate Crosby both got to home plate to keep the Yotes alive.

Katie Schmidt had another fine day on the mound for the Owls as she struck out 6 Yotes in 5 innings.

In the non-conference contest, the Yotes went scoreless in the first two innings but found a rhythm in the top of the 3rd when Lolo Walker hit a two-run bomb over the fence to bring in herself and Kaylee MacDaniel to tie up the score 2-2. Hannah Mikel slammed another homer in the top of the 4th to tie the game again 4-4. The Yotes then saw a dry spell for the rest of the game.

The Owls eventually got hot and found another 5 runs to add to the scoreboard to seal a weekend sweep.

The Yotes look to bounce back tomorrow afternoon against British Colombia in a rescheduled game. The game will be played in order to decide the final seeding for the CCC Postseason tournament. A win against UBC would solidify a 3-seed for the Yotes in tournament play.
