Yotes Stumble Against Oregon Tech

Klamath Fall, Ore. – The College of Idaho Yotes fell to Oregon Tech Owls in both games in the conference doubleheader today. Tech's high-powered offense powered them to 6-2 win in the first game and then 5-0 in the nightcap.

In game one of the day, Lolo Walker was able to go three for three in her at bats included and a home run in the top of the seventh to put the Yotes on the board for the first time and put her homerun tally to 13 on the season. Madelyn Powell followed Walker's home run with her sixth home run on the season for the final score in the contest that ended 6-2.

Kacie Schmidt was in fine form on the mound for the Owls. In seven innings pitched, she fanned eleven Yotes only giving up six hits. The Yotes bullpen had a tough go against the Owls. They combined allowed six runs off of twelve hits and only struck out one owl.

The first four innings saw a defensive battle with neither team allowing a run. The bottom of the fifth changed the game. The Owls scored all five of their runs and got six of their eight hits. The Owls defense held strong and didn't permit the Yotes to find fourth. The score finished 5-0.

The Yotes and Owls continue the series in Klamath Falls tomorrow. The two play their final conference game at 11 a.m. PT/ 12 noon MT with a nonconference matchup to immediately follow.  With Eastern Oregon and Southern Oregon splitting today's conferences matchups the best the Yotes can finish is third and the worst fourth in the Cascade Collegiate Conference. An "if necessary" rescheduled game against British Colombia Sunday will be played if The College of Idaho (19-6 CCC) and Southern Oregon (19-7 CCC) need to be separated for seeding.
