Box Score CALDWELL, Idaho – The College of Idaho Yotes (11-28, 2-11 CCC) fell 7-12 to the University of British Columbia Thunderbirds (27-13, 12-5 CCC). The T-Birds started hot by scoring three runs in the first only to be matched by The Yotes' four.
Jordan Kelly's two run homer started the prolific first inning which was followed by a Dillion Danner sacrifice fly that scored
Kris Kirkpatrick.
Darren Smith's single to center field plated
Ben Gaff. The T-Birds put up another three runs in the second and another four in the fifth inning to run ahead in the game.
The T-Birds designated hitter Mitchell Middlemiss capitalized off of his five at bats with four hits, two runs, and two RBIs.
Jordan Kelly added a double in the bottom of the ninth to co-lead the Yotes on offense.
Kris Kirkpatrick also homered in the fifth and hit a single in the first. He scored in the first propelled by stealing second and third.
Earning the win for the T-Birds, Sean Heppner fanned eight batters. From the 24 batters faced, he allowed seven runs off of five hits. James Brock relieved playing the remaining 4.2 innings without allowing a run and only three hits while striking out six.
The two continue tomorrow at 1 p.m. at Wolfe Field for a doubleheader.
