No. 22 College of Idaho Softball Takes Two from Bushnell

Springfield, Ore. – No. 22 College of Idaho scored two runs each in the final two innings on its way to a 5-1 in game one and pounded out 12 hits en route to a 8-0 win in five innings in game two for a doubleheader sweep of host Bushnell on Friday.

In game one with the contest tied at 1, Ashlynn Nixon broke the tie with a two-run home run to regain the lead for the visiting Yotes in the sixth. One inning later, in the seventh, a two-RBI single down the left-field line by Lexi Navarrete stretched the lead to 5-1.

In the bottom of the seventh, the Beacons had runners on first and second before Grace Neer picked up the strikeout to secure the win for the visitors. Yotes starter Annie Polster raised her record to 6-3 with five innings of work, scattering six hits and striking out five in the win. Neer, who entered the game in the sixth, quickly picked up a pair of strikeouts to set the tone for her relief outing.

Kaylee MacDannald had two hits and two runs to lead the offense for College of Idaho.

The nightcap saw College of Idaho send nine batters to the plate in the first and plate three runs for the early lead. The visitors scored two more in the second and fourth to go along with one more in the fifth for the 8-0 win.

Lolo Walker had three hits, Hattie Hruza and Ashlynn Nixon each had two hits to provide ample support to Yotes starter Abbey Brooks, who pitched a complete game, five-hit shutout.
