No. 22 College of Idaho Softball Takes Two More from Bushnell

EUGENE, Ore. - No. 22 College of Idaho softball swept a doubleheader against Bushnell for the second-straight day as they defeated the Beacons, 9-8 in game one and 1-0 in game two.

Game one took extra innings as the two teams combined for 22 hits, including a game-winning two-RBI single in the top of the eighth by Madelyn Powell proved to be the difference.

The two teams went into extra innings tied at 6. In the top of the eighth, with two out, Lexi Navarrete plated the first run of the inning on a RBI double that put runners on second and third for the pinch-hitting Powell. She came through with a single down the right-field line to score Navarrete and pinch-runner Ysabella Villegas.

Bushnell would not go away silently as they plated two runs on three hits with the tying run on third to end the game.

Hattie Hruza and Lolo Walker each had three hits and Ashlynn Nixon added two more in the win for College of Idaho. Walker also had three RBI in the win for the Yotes.

In the circle, Grace Neer raised her record to 3-0 with three innings of work, allowing four hits, six runs (one earned). Abbey Brooks pitched the final two outs of the game for the save.

The nightcap was a pitcher's dual between the Yotes' tandem of Abbey Brooks and Rylee Smith versus the Beacons' Emily Cole. The difference in the game was a RBI single in the first by Hannah Mikel and a pickoff that took off a Beacons' base runner away from base paths the tying run in the bottom of the seventh for the win.

Mikel and Kamryn Ham each had two hits in the win. Abbey Brooks picked up another win, going 6.2 innings and striking out three in the shared shutout with Rylee Smith, who recorded the final out in the win.

Next, College of Idaho will host Corban in softball for a doubleheader on Friday at 2 p.m. at Symms Field and Saturday at 11 a.m. at Symms Field.
