Game Recap: Baseball |

Oregon Tech Takes Two More from College of Idaho

Oregon Tech completed a series sweep of College of Idaho baseball, winning game one, 6-5 and game two, 12-6 on Sunday.

The four-game series saw two of the four games decided by one run but it was the Owls, who came away with the win.

Game one saw Oregon Tech plate three runs in the ninth as the Owls kept the tying run off the board in the bottom half of the inning en route to its second one-run win of the weekend.

Three Yotes - Jordan Kelly, Dillon Danner and Trevor Watkins - had two hits in the game one loss. For Danner, he had a double and a triple to go along with two RBI in the defeat.
Despite not being involved in the decision, College of Idaho starter Dawson Cummins went seven solid innings, allowing six hits, three runs (two earned) and struck out three.

With the game tied at 3 in the ninth, the first two batters for OIT got aboard after a hit by pitch and walk. With runners on first and second, the Owls moved the runners up a base with a sacrifice bunt for the first out of the inning. Then, a sacrifice fly plated the first of three runs; next, a pair of one out hits - a single and a double - was enough to give the visitors a three-run lead.
College of Idaho would not go away easy in its half of the ninth. With one out, Jordan Kelly made it a two-run game with a solo home run. Then, Danner reached base for the third time in the game when he got aboard on a walk to bring the tying run to the plate. Next, Trevor Watkins ripped a single through the right side to bring in pinch runner Bryan Ebe from first base. Despite the single, OIT got Watkins out in a run down to make it a one-run game. The Owls ended the threat and the game with a strikeout.

The nightcap and series finale saw OIT race out to a 7-0 advantage on its way to a 12-6 win. College of Idaho plated four of its six runs in the bottom of the ninth in the loss. Five-different Owls had multiple hits in the win and Dillon Danner led the Yotes offense for the second-straight game with three hits and two RBI. Darren Smith and Jack Ingraham each had two.
