CALDWELL, IDAHO – College of Idaho Yotes Softball (15-7) took two from Corban Warriors (1-21) as the Yotes swept the doubleheader, winning game one, 6-2 and the nightcap, 9-2.
Game 1 - #22 CI 6, CU 2
The two squads had a slow start in the first game until a
Hattie Hruza RBI triple down the left field line plated the first run of the contest. Then, Lola Walker immediately followed up the triple with a two-run home run. The Yotes offense recorded nine hits in the contest including a pair of two hit games by Lola Walker and
Lena Zahniser.
Annie Polster went the distance in her win, allowing just three hits and recording nine strikeouts.
Game 2 -#22 CI 9, CU 2
The second game of the nightcap saw College of Idaho get off to a fast start. The Yotes scored three runs in both of the first two innings. A sacrifice fly by
Lexi Navarrete started the scoring, bringing in
Kaylee MacDannald. Later in the inning, a
Lindsey Jones double drove in a pair. Then, in the second inning, a two-RBI single by
Lena Zahniser single was the blg blow. After nine hits in game oe, they came back with 10 in the nightcap.
Ashlynn Nixon and
Brinley Iverson each had two hits.
In the circle,
Grace Neer pitched 4.2 innings in the win with
Abbey Brooks finishing off the game.
The Yotes and Warriors continue the series tomorrow at Symms Field in Caldwell. First pitch of the doubleheader is scheduled for 11 a.m.
