Second Half Spurt Leads College of Idaho Men's Basketball to Victory and Conference Title

CALDWELL, Idaho –The No. 3 College of Idaho men's basketball team started the second half on a 23-9 run with eight different scorers as the Yotes pulled away with a 77-58 win over Bushnell on Friday night. The win clinches the regular season Cascade Collegiate Conference title for College of Idaho for the fourth-straight year.

College of Idaho, who has won 20 in a row, raises its record to 25-2 overall and 20-1 in the Cascade Collegiate Conference. Samaje Morgan scored a team-best 14 points to lead College of Idaho and the Beacons were paced by Cory Johnson, who had 15 points and Stevie Schlabach moved closer to 2,000 for his career with 13 points. The sharp shooting Schlabach is now 10 points shy of the 2,000-point plateau.

With a six-point lead at half, 39-33, the Yotes spoiled the comeback hopes for the Beacons with the 23-9 run to begin the second 20 minutes. The contributions to the run are a part of the reason why in the 20-game winning streak – 16 of which have been by double-digit margin. 10-different Yotes broke into the scoring ledger paced by the effort by Morgan.

He was joined in double figures by Tyler Robinett, who had 12 in the win. Caden Handran nearly had a double with nine points and seven rebounds, Paul Wilson added eight points and seven rebounds, plus Jake O'Neil had six points and eight rebounds in the win.

College of Idaho has now won nine regular season Cascade Collegiate Conference titles and is the first program since Oregon Tech from 2008-2012 to win four in a row.

Next, the Yotes will host Corban at 5 p.m. as part of Senior Day. Prior to the game, College of Idaho will honor seniors Tyler Harris, Jake O'Neil, Johnny Radford, Tyler Robinett, Aaron Strings and Paul Wilson.
