CALDWELL, Idaho - A nine-run third inning gave the Yotes offense the spark they needed to complete the four game sweep over Westcliff, taking down the Warriors on Sunday by a score of 15-6.
A big chunk of the offense came off the bat of
Austin Moon, who would go 3-4 with four RBI's on the day, two of which came in the third inning.
Kris Kirkpatrick would continue his phenomenal week, going 2-2 with a pair of walks in the win. The Yotes also saw multiple hit performances from
Jordan Kelly and
Ben Gaff.
The bats would get started early as Kirkpatrick would send a ball into the right centerfield gap to score
Ben Gaff in the first inning. The Yotes would then have a pair of two-RBI hits in the third inning, coming by way o Moon and Gaff.Â
The Warriors would answer with a six-run inning of their own in the fifth, capped off by a Jakob Taylor double to right center, as the Warriors would trim the deficit to 12-6. In the sixth, Kelly would drive in his third run of the contest on a double to left center, extending the lead to seven. Moon would then respond with a single to left field, scoring
Hutton Stiles. The final RBI of the contest came off the bat of
Matthew Iwamizu, scoring moon in the sixth inning.
Colby Durski, coming off his record setting performance on Friday, would earn the win, striking out a batter. Camden Cooper was tabbed with the loss, pitching two and two-thirds innings, allowing seven runs and striking out one.
The Yotes will return to Wolfe Field on Thursday, taking on cross-town rival Northwest Nazarene at 2 p.m.
