Yotes Tip-Off Conference Play in Record-Breaking Style

CALDWELL, Idaho — The College of Idaho men's basketball team opened its Cascade Conference schedule with a commanding 75-61 victory over Southern Oregon Friday night at the J.A. Albertson Activity Center. Senior Drew Wyman highlighted the evening, setting the program record for career starts with his 113th appearance.

Wyman played a crucial role in the Yotes' success, scoring 14 points on 5-of-9 shooting, including two three-pointers, while adding three rebounds. His performance exemplified the consistency and impact that have defined his career.

The Yotes (6-1, 1-0 CCC) controlled the game from the start, using a 9-0 run midway through the first half to build a lead they would not relinquish. Straton Rogers was pivotal in the early going, scoring 12 of his 15 points in the opening half to help the Yotes take a 35-24 advantage into the break.

Dougie Peoples led all scorers with 17 points off the bench, shooting an efficient 7-for-9 from the field. The Yotes showcased their depth, with 37 points coming from reserves, and their defense held Southern Oregon (5-2, 0-1 CCC) to just 35% shooting overall.

Key to the Yotes' dominance was their play inside. They outscored the Raiders 50-20 in the paint and turned 11 Southern Oregon turnovers into 18 points. College of Idaho's ability to capitalize on second-chance opportunities and defensive stops underscored their balanced attack.

Southern Oregon leaned on its perimeter shooting, connecting on 40.9% of its three-point attempts. Gabe Reichle paced the Raiders with 11 points, while Bryce Dyer added nine. Despite their efforts, the Raiders couldn't overcome the Yotes' superior depth and efficiency.

The win gives College of Idaho momentum heading into tomorrow's home matchup against Oregon Tech at 7:30 p.m.
