CALDWELL, Idaho – The College of Idaho men's basketball team (2-0) continued their strong start to the season with a 90-61 victory over Dickinson State University at the Taco Bell Shootout on Saturday night. The win marked the Yotes' second consecutive triumph on home court at the J.A. Albertson Activity Center.
How It Happened: The Yotes surged ahead early, outscoring Dickinson State 44-20 in the first half with a commanding offensive performance. College of Idaho shot an impressive 59.3% from the field in the opening period, while Dickinson State struggled at 30.8%. The Yotes' balanced scoring continued in the second half, with contributions from both starters and bench players, extending their lead by another 46 points to seal the win.
Samaje Morgan led the Yotes with 14 points, going 5-for-10 from the floor. Straton Rogers and Dougie Peoples added 13 and 12 points, respectively. College of Idaho's bench provided significant depth, contributing 40 points compared to Dickinson State's 11. The Yotes also dominated in the paint, tallying 58 points to Dickinson State's 16, and out-rebounded their opponent 36-20.
Trey Stevens led Dickinson State with 21 points, hitting five three-pointers, but his efforts were not enough to close the gap. College of Idaho's defense held the Blue Hawks to just 40.4% shooting overall and forced nine turnovers.
The Yotes look to continue their winning momentum as they prepare for their next contest following a successful Taco Bell Shootout showing.
