CALDWELL, Idaho – In an emotional senior night match, College of Idaho pushed Lewis-Clark State to four sets, ultimately falling 3-1 on Saturday at J.A. Albertson Activities Center. Senior Shelbey Nichol led the way with a career-high 18 kills, highlighting a resilient effort by the Yotes in their final conference home game. The night honored seniors Nichol, Savannah Hutchins, Katie Black, Janae Rayborn, Jerzie Bair, Haley McUne, and Deshy Sandoval.
How It Happened:
The Yotes opened strong, staying neck-and-neck with the Warriors, but Lewis-Clark State narrowly claimed the first set, 25-23. Juliauna Forgach Aguilar led the Warriors with a match-high 21 kills, supported by Karissa Lindner, who contributed 10 kills with a .438 hitting percentage. The Warriors carried their momentum into the second set, building an early lead to win 25-17.
College of Idaho responded in the third set, hitting an impressive .472 as Nichol and McUne, who tallied 11 kills at a .300 clip, fueled a 25-18 win for the Yotes. Hutchins orchestrated the offense with 20 assists and added 19 digs in a strong defensive showing. However, Lewis-Clark State regrouped and took the fourth set, 25-18, to secure the match.
With one more Cascade Conference weekend on the road next week, the Yotes look to carry this fighting spirit to Portland as they play Warner Pacific and Jessup-Multnomah.
