Yotes' Rally Falls Short in Road Loss to No. 10 The Master's

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. — No. 2 College of Idaho battled fiercely but fell 71-67 to No. 10 The Master's on the road Saturday night, in a game marked by swings of momentum and crucial moments late in the second half. The Yotes led by as many as nine points in the first half and entered the break with a 32-31 lead, but a combination of missed opportunities and timely plays by the Mustangs ultimately turned the tide.

College of Idaho's strong start featured standout contributions from Samaje Morgan, who sparked early offense with two three-pointers, and Drew Wyman, whose hustle on both ends kept the Yotes in front. The Yotes' rebounding prowess was evident throughout the game; Paul Wilson and Tyler Robinett combined for key offensive boards in the first half that led to second-chance points, giving the Yotes some separation early.

However, The Master's responded with a flurry of scoring from Quincy Phillips, who poured in 21 points, including critical three-pointers during a stretch midway through the second half. The Yotes fought back each time, with Utrillo Morris providing a spark off the bench, scoring eight points and converting key free throws to keep the game within reach.

Lead changes and ties highlighted the second half as neither team was willing to cede control. Samaje Morgan's free throws and Drew Wyman's inside baskets kept College of Idaho in striking distance. With under five minutes remaining, Paul Wilson's offensive rebound and put-back brought the Yotes within two, igniting hopes for a comeback. But costly turnovers and a cold shooting night from beyond the arc (4-of-18) stymied their rally.

Despite the late-game heroics from their big men and a valiant defensive stand that forced multiple tough shots from The Master's, the Yotes fell short. College of Idaho showed their characteristic resilience and depth but will look to clean up execution and capitalize on pivotal possessions as the season continues.
