CALDWELL, Idaho – College of Idaho volleyball started its last home-weekend off strong, claiming a 3-0 sweep (25-20, 25-22, 25-21) over Walla Walla University on Friday afternoon at the J.A. Albertson Activity Center. This victory marked the Yotes' ninth home sweep in conference play this season.
How It Happened
The Yotes (16-11, 12-7 CCC) opened the first set with an impressive .478 hitting percentage while holding Walla Walla to .080. Shelbey Nichol led the charge offensively, finishing with a .476 hitting percentage, while Haley McUne and Alexa Wheeler added crucial kills that kept the Yotes in control.
The Wolves (9-13, 8-12 CCC) pushed back in the second set, hitting .237 and challenging the Yotes with improved play. College of Idaho, however, took advantage of timely Walla Walla errors to secure the set and maintain their momentum.
The third set was tightly contested, with Walla Walla fighting to extend the match, but the Yotes' consistent play ultimately closed out the set 25-21, completing the sweep.
Walla Walla's Sahara Browning led her team with 11 kills and two service aces, totaling a team-high 13 points. Natalia Jimenez also had a strong showing with nine kills and three blocks, anchoring the Wolves' defense at the net.
The Yotes will be back at home tomorrow at 4 p.m. for Senior Night, where they will honor their graduating players before taking on LC State in their final home game of the regular season.
