Yotes Own the Night in Late Showdown Against Walla Walla

COLLEGE PLACE, Wash. – The College of Idaho Yotes bounced back from a tough loss at Lewis-Clark State with a straight-set victory (25-21, 26-24, 25-20) over Walla Walla University in a late-night conference matchup on Saturday. The win brings the Yotes back to a winning record with a 10-9 overall record and 6-5 in Cascade Collegiate Conference play.

How It Happened:

The Yotes got off to a strong start in the first set, with a balanced attack led by Shelbey Nichol, who posted 12 kills and hit an impressive .526. Despite a surge from Walla Walla, College of Idaho closed out the first set 25-21. In the second set, the Wolves battled back, but key kills from Janae Rayborn (7 kills) and Abby Draghici (6 kills) helped the Yotes pull out a 26-24 win.

College of Idaho kept the momentum in the third set, hitting .414 as a team. Mia Hutchinson and Alexa Wheeler contributed with timely blocks, and Nichol's consistent play sealed the match with a 25-20 final set.

The Yotes capitalized on Walla Walla's errors and out-dug their opponents 52-48. With this bounce-back victory, the Yotes look to build momentum as they head into the final stretch of the season.
