CALDWELL, Idaho — The College of Idaho Yotes extended their home win streak to five games with a commanding 3-0 sweep of the Oregon Tech Owls on Friday night. After a five-set battle against OIT on the road earlier in the season, the Yotes made quick work of the rematch, taking the sets 25-16, 25-16, and 25-12 to complete the series sweep.
How It Happened
The Yotes controlled the opening set with a balanced attack and strong defense. Alexa Wheeler led the way with 10 kills on a .500 hitting percentage, while Abby Draghici added seven kills and five blocks. The Yotes capitalized on Oregon Tech's errors, holding the Owls to a negative hitting percentage in the first set to claim a 25-16 win.
In the second set, College of Idaho's defense remained stout, limiting OIT to a .103 hitting percentage. Though Oregon Tech's Aleksen Thayer contributed four kills, the Yotes' defense, anchored by Wheeler and Draghici, kept the pressure on. Two service aces by Kadence Boyd helped the Yotes maintain control, taking the set 25-16.
Oregon Tech saw some individual bright spots, with Molly Grace tallying four kills and 11 digs, but it wasn't enough to slow down the Yotes. College of Idaho closed out the match in dominant fashion, hitting .481 as a team in the third set and rolling to a 25-12 victory.
With the win, the Yotes completed the season sweep of Oregon Tech and extended their home winning streak that they will aim to defend against Southern Oregon on Saturday evening.
