CORVALLIS- Ore. – Both men's and women's cross country standouts from the College of Idaho were recognized as Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) Runners of the Week following standout performances at the Blazing Tiger Classic on Saturday. Graduate student Daniel Butler and senior Kahea Figueira each claimed their third CCC Runner of the Week award this season, highlighting the Yotes' continued dominance in cross country.
On the men's side, Butler, a native of Buhl, Idaho, earned his latest accolade after leading a field of 339 racers to finish first in the 8k with a time of 23:56.1. His winning time put him nearly 30 seconds ahead of the competition and powered the No. 3-ranked Yotes to a team victory with a 38-point margin.
In the women's race, Figueira, hailing from Spokane, Wash., placed second among 303 runners with a 6k time of 21:36.44, propelling the No. 5-ranked College of Idaho women's team to a second-place finish.
Both Butler and Figueira continue to make a significant impact as the Yotes prepare for the upcoming CCC Championships.
