CALDWELL, Idaho – The No. 2-ranked College of Idaho Yotes (NAIA No. 12) took the field Saturday at Simplot Stadium in a thrilling top-of-the-conference showdown against No. 1 Carroll College. Despite a valiant effort and strong plays across the roster, the Yotes fell 43-29, moving to 6-3 overall and 4-2 in the Frontier Conference.
The Yotes' defense brought intensity, led by standout Kobe Roberts, who posted three sacks, and Willie Nelson, who tallied ten tackles and a pivotal interception that he returned 36 yards. Elton Saole-Su'e and Gus Austin each added a sack, showing the defensive line's depth as they kept Carroll quarterback Jack Prka under pressure all game.
On offense, quarterback Andy Peters passed for 238 yards and two touchdowns, finding Tommy Hauser twice in the end zone, including a 15-yard score that kept the Yotes within one in the third quarter. Peters also connected with Travis Marieiro, who led with 85 receiving yards on five catches, including a 33-yard gain that set up a key scoring opportunity. Brock Richardson chipped in with 51 yards on four receptions, while Torey Watkins' 40-yard catch electrified the crowd.
Special teams were a strong suit, with Cameron Simons and Devon Long each making big tackles to limit Carroll's return gains. Although Carroll's deep-ball connections proved challenging, the Yotes' defensive and offensive strengths kept the game within reach and showcased their competitive edge. College of Idaho looks to regroup and capitalize on these standout performances as they continue their postseason push.
