CALDWELL, Idaho – The College of Idaho women's soccer team delivered a commanding 5-2 victory over Carroll College this afternoon at Simplot Stadium. The Yotes overcame an early two-goal deficit with a relentless offensive performance to secure the win.
Carroll came out swinging, with Rachel McAllister catching the Yotes' defense off guard just three minutes into the match. Delaney Moczan provided the assist as McAllister calmly finished to open the scoring. Moments later, Deanna Lord doubled Carroll's lead, finishing a neat pass from Emily Funseth to put the Saints up 2-0. It marked the first time this conference season that the Yotes found themselves trailing.
Undeterred by the early blow, the College of Idaho responded with urgency. In the 27th minute,
Abbi Roubidoux netted her third goal of the season, sparking the Yotes' comeback. Just three minutes later,
Natasja Davis stepped up to the spot and buried a penalty kick with confidence, leveling the match at 2-2. The Yotes seized momentum before halftime. In the 44th minute, Roubidoux struck again, this time assisted by
Kyndra Lyons, to give the College of Idaho a 3-2 lead heading into the break.
The second half saw the Yotes maintain their dominance. Davis added her second goal of the day in the 65th minute, bringing her season total to eight, and extending the lead to 4-2. A few minutes later, Carroll was dealt another blow when an own goal put the game out of reach at 5-2.
College of Idaho controlled much of the match, outshooting Carroll 21-14, including 13 shots on target. Yotes' goalkeeper
Alivia Brenchley made six crucial saves, while Carroll's Maria Ackerman recorded eight stops of her own. Although Carroll applied pressure early, it was the Yotes' composed second-half performance that proved decisive.
With the victory, the College of Idaho improved to 8-0-2 on the season. They'll look to continue their winning streak when they take on the University of Providence tomorrow at 5:30 p.m. at Simplot Stadium.
