CALDWELL, Idaho — The #11 College of Idaho women's soccer team would keep their winning streak alive tonight at Simplot Stadium, rolling past the University of Providence Argos with a commanding 5-1 victory. Three different players would find the back of the net, proving that the Yotes are firing on all cylinders as they extend their unbeaten record to 9-0-2 this season.
The Yotes would waste no time making their presence felt, striking first in the ninth minute after a scramble in the box ended with the ball tucked into the net. Just two minutes later, they would improve their lead with a crafty pass over the top of the Argo defense from Delaney Reed, Natasja Davis finding the end of it and burying her tenth goal of the season.
After a slower next twenty minutes, Eden Maakafi would come off the bench and made her mark in the 30th minute, pouncing on a loose ball and adding her seventh goal of the season to put the Yotes firmly in control at 3-0. Moments later, Abbi Roubidoux would unleash a shot that was saved but fell to Allison Moultray, who finished the ball for her first goal of the season. By halftime, the Yotes were in full command with a 4-0 lead, bombarding the Providence defense with 31 shots while holding the Argos to none.
The second half saw more of the Yotes' commanding offense, with Roubidoux adding a beautiful strike to the top corner in the 56th minute, marking her seventh goal of the year. However, the the Argos would respond quickly, breaking through with a goal from Brooklum Poole in the 65th minute, assisted by Brooklyn Ludemann. The Yotes finished the game with 46 shots and 22 of them on target, while Providence managed 5. Providence goalkeeper Chloe Pajaro made an impressive 17 saves throughout the game.
Up next, the Yotes hit the road to face Eastern Oregon on October 19th in La Grande, Ore., at 3 p.m. They'll be back in Caldwell on November 1st to host Warner Pacific University at Simplot Stadium, with kickoff set for 1 p.m.
