CALDWELL, Idaho – The College of Idaho Yotes fought back from a two-goal deficit to secure a thrilling 3-2 victory over previously undefeated in-conference Carroll College on Friday evening at Simplot Stadium.
Carroll College, entering the match with an impressive 6-0 record in conference play, seemed to be in full control by halftime. Felix Billard opened the scoring in the 30th minute, assisted by Ismael Navarro and Adam Webster. Just 12 minutes later, Justus Hermann doubled the lead, with Billard providing the assist, sending the Fighting Saints into the break up 2-0.
The first half saw Carroll take six shots compared to nine from the Yotes, but it wasn't until the second half that College of Idaho found their stride. The Yotes ramped up the pressure, taking 10 shots in the second period while limiting Carroll to just one.
The Yotes' resurgence began in the 60th minute when Keidin Green found the back of the net unassisted to cut the lead to 2-1. With the clock ticking down and Carroll attempting to preserve their lead, College of Idaho's Jorge Fernandez leveled the score in the 82nd minute, assisted by Dani Alejos. The Yotes weren't content with just the equalizer—less than a minute later, Pol Romero struck to give the home side an electrifying 3-2 lead, sending the home crowd into a frenzy.
Goalkeeper Matej Hron stood strong with two key saves, and the defense locked down Carroll in the final minutes to secure the win.
With the victory, College of Idaho rebounds from a pair of tough losses last week to Oregon Tech and Southern Oregon. The Yotes will look to carry this momentum into tomorrow's match against the University of Providence, set for 8 p.m. at Simplot Stadium.
