The College of Idaho women's tennis team began the 2024 portion of its schedule with a 4-3Â win over host OUAZ. The matchup was the first in program history in the new Golden State Athletic Conference affiliation.

College of Idaho (2-1) started the day, winning at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles to secure a point. The match got underway with the No. 3 team of
Brooke McNeel and
Elizabeth Sagehorn cruising to a 6-1 win. Then, OUAZ came back with a win at No. 1 doubles before the Yotes picked up their second doubles victory at No. 2. The team of
Anna Willcuts and
Hristina Ljuba were 6-4 winners.

McNeel and Sagehorn started singles play with wins at the No. 5 and No. 6 flight to move the Yotes a win away from clinching the match. Quick work by McNeel in her match saw her win by a 6-0, 6-1 margin at No. 5, then Sagehorn won by a 6-1, 6-2 margin at No. 6. OUAZ managed to come back to win at No. 2 and No. 3 singles with two matches still on the court. Ljuba clinched the contest for C of I, winning at No. 1 by a 6-1, 7-5 margin.

 "It was great to see the hard work and dedication everyone put forth for us to win this match," said an excited Sagehorn, who picked up her first collegiate wins on Tuesday.

Next, College of Idaho will face Arizona Christian on Wednesday at noon.
