Box Score MESA, Ariz. - The College of Idaho baseball team was able to take down Park-Gilbert in extra innings to open the season, taking down the Buccaneers in 10 innings by a final score of 7-6.
Jack Ingraham, in his first game as a Yote, had a monster game, going 4-5 with a home run and three RBI's to lead the Yotes offense. The Yotes also saw a home run from
Alex McFarland-Smith in the top of the seventh inning.
The Yotes (1-0) also saw
Jordan Kelly drive in a run. With two outs in the top of the ninth inning, and a runner on first base, the Yotes were down a run and needed a spark. Kelly stepped into the batters box and hit a double, which scored
Chandler Stocking from first base.
In the top of the 10th inning,
Bryan Ebe scored on a wild pitch, and Ingraham contributed the most impactful of his three RBI's, as
Trevor Watkins came in to score to give the Yotes a two-run lead in the tenth.
The Buccaneers (0-1) took the lead in the fourth inning on a Nick Miller single to right field, scoring a pair. The Bucs again took the lead in the eighth as Jeshurun Leckey singled to drive in a run. The last run for Park Gilbert came in the bottom of the tenth, as Andrew Allanson hit a solo shot.
Colby Durski earned his first win of the season, pitching two innings in relief, allowing just one run and striking out one. Josh Leckey was tabbed with the loss, giving up a pair of runs in the 10th inning.
