Gabriella Rios (12) each had double-digit kills as College of Idaho defeated Bushnell, 25-17, 25-27, 25-22, 25-18 on Friday night.
The Yotes (10-8, 8-2 CCC) hit .156 and over .200 in the final two sets on its way to an all-around team victory. McUne added 24 digs for another double double to go along with two service aces and three blocks. Also, with a double double was
Savannah Hutchins, who had 21 assists and 12 digs, plus
Analise Hitchcock found her teammates for a match-high 34 assists.
Liza Montalbo added a pair of aces and
Alexa Wheeler had four blocks.
The Beacons (9-5, 7-3 CCC) managed to hit .105 in the match and under .150 in two of the four sets. Leah Agost and Haile Neumann each had 10 kills, plus Makenna Mosher and Matty Ladd each had five blocks.
From the onset, College of Idaho showed its resilience as they fell behind 7-2 in the first set. The Yotes erased a 12-10 deficit to take a 19-14 lead in the set. C of I scored five of the seven final points in the set to take the opening set by a 25-17 margin.
The second set went back and forth between the two teams as it was tied on seven occasions. The Beacons overcame a set point to score the final three for a 27-25 victory to even the match at a set apiece.
The third set saw College of Idaho take a two-point lead, 16-14 lead after a pair of attack errors by the host Beacons. The Yotes remained in front for the remainder of the set as five-different players recorded a kill on its way to a 25-22 advantage.
With a two set to one lead, the fourth set saw College of Idaho race out to an early 6-2 lead before a Bushnell timeout. The Yotes remained in front on its way to a 10-5 lead forced the Beacons to use their second and final timeout. Bushnell was only able to get within four as the Yotes closed out the match with a .250 hitting percentage in the final set to secure the match.
Next, College of Idaho will host Corban on Saturday at 7 p.m. (PST)/8 p.m. (MT). The Warriors will enter the contest at No. 5 in the nation after a straight-set loss to No. 4 Eastern Oregon on Friday. Â
