Yotes Defeat Northwest to Sweep the Weekend

KIRKLAND, Wash. - The 17th-ranked College of Idaho women's soccer team continued their impressive run, defeating the Northwest Eagles in a rematch of last season's CCC championship game, winning by a score of 4-0.

The Yotes (6-1-1) defense hounded the Eagle offense, only allowing the Eagles to record two shots in the game with one of them being a shot on goal. The Yote offense once again was a problem for the opposing defense, firing off 27 shots, including 16 shots on goal for the second consecutive game.

Abbi Roubidoux started the Yotes scoring with her third of the season in the 41st minute off an assist from Madison Little. The assist from Little was her first point with the College of Idaho. Just 80 seconds later, Alondra Osuna tallied her second goal of the 2023 campaign, as Eden Makaafi was able to get the ball to Osuna to make it a 2-0 game heading into the half.

In the second half, Maddie Smith recorded her fifth of the year just 12 minutes in off an assist from Deborah Pond. The goal from Smith marked the most in a season in her College of Idaho career, surpassing her previous high of four. With just over 30 seconds left in the game, Larissa Wegner netted her third of the year off a feed from McKenna Harris, making it 4-0.

Through the first eight games of the season, the Yotes offense have outscored opponents 32-7, with an average of four goals per game, while allowing an average of less than one goal per game on the defensive end.

The Yotes will be back in action for their CCC home opener next Sunday against Rocky Mountain.
