CALDWELL, Idaho – The No. 19 Southern Oregon volleyball team spoiled the home opener for the College of Idaho volleyball team on Friday.
The nationally-ranked Raiders were paced by a 14-kill effort from Hannah Stadstad, who paced an attack that hit .248 in a 25-22, 25-21, 22-25, 25-23 win. Teammate Tessa Zimmerman added 11 kills without an error to go along with nine blocks in the win as the Raiders improve to 8-1 overall and 1-0 in the Cascade Collegiate Conference.
College of Idaho was led by
Jade Warren, who had 14 kills and five blocks in the loss for the Yotes. The loss drops C of I to 2-7 overall and 0-1 in the Cascade Collegiate Conference.
Savannah Hutchins provided 33 assists and
Analise Hitchcock chipped in 21.
Clair Hodge had a career-high 27 digs in the contest.
SOU setters Vitroia Mattos and Annie Hite had 23 and 20 assists, respectively. Plus, Kayla Neidigh and Trinity Atuatasi each had 18 digs in the win.
After the Raiders won the first two sets, College of Idaho hit at a .300 or higher clip in the final two sets. The Yotes had 15 kills and a .300 hitting percentage in the third set as the Raiders hit .091 in the set. SOU came back in the fourth set to hit .425 to complete the four-set victory.
Next, College of Idaho will host Oregon Tech on Saturday night at 7 p.m. to wrap up the opening weekend of conference play.
