Box Score WALLA WALLA, Wash. - In a back-and-forth contest, the Yotes were able to escape Walla Walla with a late one goal victory, defeating Whitman by a score of 3-2.
The game was scoreless in the first half as both teams battled for possession in a very physical contest. In the second half, Whitman got the late advantage, tallying a goal with under 30 minutes to play to take a one goal lead.
Joao Bastos was able to answer back in the 78th minute of play, scoring his first of the year to even the game up. The Blues then took back the one goal lead after scoring just a few minutes later.
Jorge Fernandez picked up right where he left off in the last game, scoring in the 82nd minute to square things back up at two in what was his second goal of the season. With just over a minute to play, the ball entered the box and onto the foot of
Dani Alejos, who put the ball past the Whitman keeper to give the Yotes the eventual game winning goal.
The Yotes end non-conference action with a record of 1-1-1 and will have a two week break before they head to Washington to square off with The Evergreen State College on the 15th in the opener of conference play.
