TWIN FALLS, Idaho – The College of Idaho men's cross country, who are the favorites in the Cascade Collegiate Conference, began the 2023 season with a win at the Dr. Scholes Classic hosted by the College of Southern Idaho.
The first collegiate runner across the finish line and taking home the individual title was junior
Elias Everist, who covered the 7k course in 22:11.62 just behind individual winner, Mason Braithwhite who won the race in 22:08.34.
Local rival and NCAA Division II member Northwest Nazarene took second and the next two runners were from College of Idaho. Senior
Braden Heath and junior
Daniel Butler were fourth (22:32.13) and fifth (22:35.99), respectively.
The fourth runner for College of Idaho and eighth overall was
Will Kracaw in 22:48.04 and teammate
Brevin Vaughan in 22:50.59 rounded out the top five and was ninth.
"I am really happy with how today went. The kids did a great job of executing the race plan. It was a great start, but there is still a lot racing ahead," said head coach
Dominic Bolin.
Next, College of Idaho will host the CCC Preview Meet at the Caldwell Golf Course on Friday, Sept. 15.
