Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

No. 19 Yotes Dominate in Season Opener

CALDWELL, Idaho - The No. 19 College of Idaho women's soccer team wasted no time getting back into the win column following last year's historic season, dominating Jessup in their season opener on Thursday by a score of 5-0 at Simplot Stadium.

The game was all about the Yotes offense, as College of Idaho would dominate in time of possession, maintaining control of the ball throughout a majority of Thursday's contest. Sophomore Natasja Davis wasted little time picking up where she left off, scoring in the ninth minute after scoring five goals in six games during her freshman campaign before it was shortened due to injury. Davis would strike again 14 minutes later, scoring her second of the game, making it an even seven goals in seven College of Idaho appearances.

Freshman Alondra Osuna tallied her first College of Idaho goal in the 45th minute, coming off a rebound from the Jessup keeper with nine seconds remaining in the first half, as the Yotes would close out the opening frame with a three-goal advantage. The offense was stifling in the first half, tallying 19 shots compared to Jessup's three in the first half. The second half started similar to how the first half closed, as Kyndra Lyons scored her first of the year just four and a half minutes in. Just two minutes later, Larissa Wegner added to the scoring tally, making it a five goal game.

The defense for the Yotes was just as impressive, only allowing four total shots with three of them on goal. The goalkeeper duo of Hannah McFadden and Hailey Jo Parks led the Yotes to a clean sheet.

The Yotes will be back in action in a top-20 matchup against No. 9 Embry-Riddle (Ariz.) on Saturday morning at Simplot Stadium before the season opener for football. The game kicks off at 9 a.m. and admission is free to the public.
