Box Score CALDWELL, Idaho - The matchup of top-20 opponents in the NAIA saw the ninth-ranked Eagles of Embry-Riddle (Ariz.) take down the No. 19 Yotes by a score of 2-1.
The first half saw plenty of scoring chances from both teams, as each of the starting goalkeepers would register three saves in the opening frame. In the 55th minute, a free kick bounced around in the box before finding the foot of Katelyn Kelch, scoring the opener for the Eagles. Just two minutes later, coming off a corner kick from
Gianna Yslava, the ball ricochet off a couple of players and find
Eden Makaafi, who netted her first goal in a Yotes uniform. Makaafi had a scoring chance earlier in the game that would hit the bottom of the crossbar and ultimately stay out of the net.
In the 84th minute, Adelie Zechmann found space on the left side of the box and was able to dribble around the defender before lofting the ball over the head of McFadden, finding the bottom side of the cross bar and bouncing into the net, which proved to be the game-winner.
The Yotes will next travel to Tennessee to take on Cumberland on September 2nd.
