2023 Baseball Notebook (Eastern Oregon)

HISTORY VS. EOU: One of the longest series' in program history, the Yotes and Eastern Oregon have played against each other since 1934, with College of Idaho holding a big lead in the series record. Last time out, the Yotes earned a 15-4 victory over the Mountaineers, that game taking place on March 1st.
 
LEADING THE PACK: Jonah Hultberg is once again leading the Yotes in batting average, entering the weekend with a .403 average. His big game last time out against EOU increased his batting average to above .400.
 
HOME SWEET HOME: The friendly confines of Wolfe Field have helped the Yotes in the early part of the season, entering the weekend with a 6-1 record at home, the lone loss coming to NCAA DII Northwest Nazarene.
 
EXTRA BASES: The College of Idaho currently sits atop the Cascade Conference in triples on the season with 14. The next closest is Corban with eight.
 
CONSISTENT BATS: Five Yotes currently have over a .300 average, with Hultberg at the top, followed by Tristen Garland, Dillon Danner, Alex McFarland-Smith, and Ben Gaff.
 
DUAL THREAT: Kris Kirkpatrick has been a consistent face in the field and on the mound. In the field, he has a .257 average with a homer and nine RBI's. On the mound, Kirkpatrick gave up his first earned run of the year against LCSC, with his ERA now sitting at a team-low 2.81.
 
MULTIPLE LONG BALLS: Jonah Hultberg and Skyler Sadora are currently tied for the team lead in home runs, with three each. They are the only players on the team with multiple home runs on the season.
 
HIT LEADERS: Four of the top five leaders in batting average currently have at least 20 hits. Hultberg, Garland, Gaff, and McFarland-Smith each have at least 20 hits. The next closest to 20 is Jake Denison with 15
 
AROUND THE CCC: The Lewis-Clark State Warriors currently lead the pack in the conference, entering the weekend with a 15-3 record. Oregon Tech sits at second in the CCC with a 13-5 record. Bushnell enters at third with a 9-5 record, while the Yotes are fourth with a 10-7 record. British Columbia, Corban, and Eastern Oregon round out the top three, with records of 9-9, 4-12, and 1-10 respectively.
