CALDWELL, Idaho - College of Idaho erased an early 15-point deficit to have the lead with 3:16 left in the contest against Cascade Collegiate Conference leader Eastern Oregon on Tuesday night. Senior
Lexi Mitchell put the host Yotes ahead 57-56 with 3:16 to go. The Mountaineers scored six of the next seven points on its way to a 65-60 win on Tuesday night.
Mitchell, who became the program's all-time rebounding leader in the previous game, was one of three players with 19 points in the contest. She was the lone one for College of Idaho, who dropped to 13-11 overall and 8-10 in the CCC. Mitchell was joined in double figures by
Sienna Riggle, who had 15 points and a team-high seven rebounds.
Sailor Liefke and Brie Holecek each had 19 points for EOU, who raised its record to 22-2 overall and 17-1 in the CCC. Beverly Slater had 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Eastern Oregon started the game with a 23-8 lead after the first quarter but the resilient College of Idaho squad got the deficit to single digits when
Riley Frith beat the halftime buzzer with a layup as the Yotes trailed 38-29.
A 15-4 run to start the second half saw College of Idaho take a 43-42 lead with 2:38 left in the third quarter. The game went back and forth into the fourth quarter as the two teams were tied on three occasions in the final 10 minutes before the game-deciding spurt by the Mountaineers.
