No. 1 seed and the top team in the NAIA punched its ticket to the Cascade Collegiate Conference Tournament finals with an 87-71 win over No. 5 seed Corban on Saturday night.
After weather delayed the game for a day, neither team was phased, especially the Yotes who shot 60.4% from the field in the win. The 60.4% from the field for College of Idaho is its second-highest shooting effort from the field as they shot at a 64% clip in the win over Walla Walla on December 30, 2022.Â
College of Idaho (29-1) extended its winning streak to 29 games as sophomore
Drew Wyman led five Yotes in double figures with 16 points.
Johnny Radford added 15 and three Yotes -
Tyler Robinett,
Jake O'Neil and Samaje Mogan - provided 11 in the win.
Corban (20-10) shot 42.6% (29-for-61) from the field in the loss. Collin Warmouth scored a game-high 17. Teammate Mateo Escheik added 14 in the loss.Â
College of Idaho scored the first seven points of the game and built a double-digit lead 13 minutes into the game when Robinett made one of two free throws to put the host Yotes ahead 20-10. The lead remained double digits for the rest of the contest and as large as 31 against the Warriors.
The win sends College of Idaho on to the championship game for the 12th time as they will face No. 2 seed Eastern Oregon on Monday night at 7:30 p.m. Fans are encouraged to wear purple.Â
