CALDWELL, Idaho - In pursuit of its third title in six years, the No. 3 College of Idaho men's cross country team came up just short as they took second at the 2023 Cascade Collegiate Conference Cross Country Championships. Local rival Eastern Oregon took the team title with 48 pts. just ahead of the 63 pts. by the Yotes.
Robert Swoboda of Corban was the individual winner in 24:25.3 for nearly an eight-second victory. Behind him was the Yotes'
Daniel Butler, who finished second in 24:35 and teammate
Hayden Bostrom was fourth in 24:45.2. It is the third all-conference honor for Bostom and the second for Butler.
On its way to the team title, Eastern Oregon had six runners in the top 13 to capture the team title. It was the Mountaineers first league title since 2007. The top finisher for EOU was Daniel Ash, who finished a tenth of a second behind Butler in third place.
To go along with the second place finish by Butler and fourth place finish by Bostrom,
Elias Everist was the third Yote to earn all-CCC honors with a tenth-place finish in 24:59.4. Next for College of Idaho was
Brevin Vaughan (23rd, 25:35.6),
Cyress Wilson (24th, 25:37.9) and
Oclan Ryan (25th, 25:38.3).
The next meet for College of Idaho is the 2023 NAIA Cross Country Championships on Friday, Nov. 17 in Vancouver, Wash.
