CALDWELL, Idaho - The 15th-ranked College of Idaho women's soccer team came out victorious on Senior Day, winning the Cascade Collegiate Conference regular season championship in the process, taking down Bushnell, 1-0.
The win marked the 13th straight win for the Yotes, and after a 10-0 start to conference play, find themselves clinching a berth to the NAIA National Championships in the process.
Both teams were able to control the ball in the first half, as there were a combined 13 shots in the frame, with the Yotes recording 11 of those. One of those shots came off the foot of
Larissa Wegner, scoring in the 36th minute to give the Yotes the 1-0 lead that would hold to be the final.
Both goalkeepers shined in the game, as Bushnell's Lexi Bates recorded seven saves and only allowed the one goal, while
Hannah McFadden ended her 2023 regular season home campaign with five saves to give the Yotes their ninth consecutive clean sheet.
The win marks the fourth consecutive season that the Yotes will make an appearance at the NAIA National Championships after winning their first NAIA tournament game in program history a season ago. The win also extends a program record for the squad, currently riding a winning streak of 13, which is the longest in team history.
The Yotes will return to the pitch in Portland next weekend, taking on Multnomah and Warner Pacific.
