ASHLAND, Neb. - The No. 9 College of Idaho men's cross country team traveled to the Midwest for the 2023 Blazing Tiger hosted by Doane University and University of St. Mary on Saturday. The nationally-ranked Yotes landed four runners in the top 11 on its way to securing the victory. It is the third time that the men have won a meet in 2023.

College of Idaho was led by a runner-up performance by junior Daniel Butler, who covered the 8k course in a personal best time of 24:23. The second-place finish by the Buhl, Idaho native is also the best of his career. He set a new PR by 23 seconds.

Teammates Elias Everist and Hayden Bostrom were sixth (24:38.7) and seventh (24:41.2), respectively. The fourth runner for the Yotes and a key factor in the team victory was Braden Heath, who finished the 8k course in 24:47.1. The fifth runner and another key component to the victory was the effort by junior Brevin Vaughan, who crossed the line in 25:22.3 in 30th.

"I am really happy with both the men's and women's teams. We have been talking all year about being gritty and tough when things get hard and they fully embodied that today. We are excited to get back to work on Monday and get ready for championship season," said head coach Dominic Bolin.
