CALDWELL, Idaho – The No. 3 College of Idaho men's basketball team shot 57.3% from the field – its second highest effort on the season – on its way to a 112-61 rout of Evergreen on Friday night.
College of Idaho (13-1, 8-0 CCC), who has rattled off 13-straight wins after a loss in its season opener, had six players in double figures in the win.
Drew Wyman scored 21 to lead College of Idaho, who was joined in double figures by
Johnny Radford (18),
Charles Elzie (13),
Jake O'Neil (12),
Samaje Morgan (10) and
Whitt Miller (10). The unselfish Yotes had 28 assists on 47 field goals with Morgan leading the squad with six assists as 12-different Yotes had an assist in the win.
Evergreen (1-10, 1-7 CCC) was led by a 20-point effort from Tyler Williford to pace the Geoducks. Jourdan Joseph and Jayden Upshaw scored 15 and 10 points, respectively.
When
Charles Elzie hit the first of 11 3-pointers with 18:29 left in the first half, College of Idaho led for the remainder of the contest. Elzie and the Yotes stretched its three-point lead to as much as 57 in the contest. The Yotes went on to shoot 58.5% in the first half as they built a 30-point halftime lead, 56-26. Wyman scored 12 of his 21 in the first half, six of which came on a pair of 3-pointers.
The stifling defense for College of Idaho did not take the night off as they held Evergreen to 35% (21-for-60) shooting from the field. The Yotes have held their opponents under 40% shooting from the field in its last five games. College of Idaho leads the CCC in field goal percentage defense and ranks 37
th nationally.
Next, College of Idaho will host Northwest University on Saturday at 5 p.m. Fans are encouraged to wear the jersey of their favorite athlete.
