LEWISTON, Idaho –
Janae Rayborn and
Brenna Hawkins had 16 and 11 kills, respectively, as the visiting College of Idaho volleyball team dropped a 26-24, 21-25, 25-22, 25-16 decision to host Lewis-Clark State on Saturday night.
Rayborn and Hawkins led the Yotes to a .174 hitting percentage in the loss.
Analise Hitchcock provided 30 assists for the Yotes, who fall to 2-9 overall and 1-3 in the CCC.
Katie Black led the frontline with five blocks to go along with three each from
Chayla Slavin and
Brenna Hawkins. Plus,
Clair Hodge and
Gabriella Rios had 14 and 11 digs, respectively.
For Lewis-Clark State, Cassidy Nelson recorded a match-high 20 kills, plus Grecia Ung Enriquez served up four service aces to lead the Warriors, who are 7-3 overall and 3-2 in the CCC.
With the opening set tied at 13, eight-straight points by the host Warriors sparked a 21-13 lead. A resilient College of Idaho squad came back with an 11-3 run to take a 24-23 lead for its first lead since 9-8. LC State answered the run by the 'Yotes with three straight points to take the set by a 26-24 margin.
The second set saw College of Idaho lead from start to finish as they evened the match at a set apiece with a 25-21 victory. Then, an 8-1 run to close out the third set led LCSC to a 25-22 victory. The fourth set saw the two teams tied at 4 before a three-point swing in favor of the home team put the Warriors ahead for the remainder of the set. Five times, in the set, the 'Yotes got within a point, but it was LCSC, who would answer the threat and retain the lead to secure the set and the match.
Next, the Yotes will travel to La Grande, Oregon on Tuesday to face Eastern Oregon at 7 p.m. (PT)/8 p.m. (MT) which will be followed by a four-match homestand.
