SURPRISE Arizona – The College of Idaho volleyball team took to the road for the first time in 2022, dropping a five-set decision to Park University-Gilbert (Ariz.) in its first match of the OUAZ Tournament on Friday.
The 'Yotes (1-4) were paced by a double double by newcomer
Gabriella Rios with 12 kills and digs in the loss. College of Idaho posted a .192 hitting percentage and 51 kills in the contest.
Chayla Slavin posted a team-high 13 kills, plus she had seven blocks as the 'Yotes as a team recorded 12 blocks.
The Buccaneers (2-3) managed to post a .181 hitting percentage to go along with 60 kills in the win. Railey Druxman and Miranda Bacon paced Park University-Gilbert with 17 and 10 kills, respectively. Settters Jennifer Lauer and Annika Wallace shared 30 and 20 assists, respectively. Plus, Lauer had two of the eight service in the win.
The tournament will resume for the Yotes on Saturday with matchups against MSU-Northern and ERAU-Arizona at 12:30 p.m. (MT) and 5:30 p.m. (MT), respectively.
