LEWISTON, Idaho - The College of Idaho baseball season came to a close in Lewiston yesterday, as the Yotes fell to British Columbia, 12-9. The Yotes defeated Corban earlier in the day by a score of 8-6.
In the game against Corban, the Yotes offense struck early, jumping out to a quick 4-1 lead in the second inning.
Skyler Sadora hit a two RBI single to give the Yotes a three run lead. In the seventh inning,
Jonah Hultberg went deep to give the Yotes a 6-5 lead, which they would hold.Â
Starter
Dimick Wood pitched five innings, only allowing four hits and one unearned run.
Erik Wisenor would enter in the sixth inning, going the rest of the way. Wisenor pitched 3.1 innings, only allowing one hit and striking out five, earning a win and improving his season record to 4-2.
In game two, the Yotes jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead in the first inning.
Jake Denison doubled to left center field, driving in three runs. Denison would then double yet again in the third inning, driving in two more as he drove in five of the first six runs for the Yotes. C of I would add two more in the third on a
Weston Miller single.
Alex McFarland-Smith scored on a
Ben Dudley sacrifice fly to round out the Yotes scoring.
British Columbia would cut the lead in half in the bottom half of the third, led by a Nolan Weger home run and two RBI's from Brandon Hupe. From that point, the Thunderbirds would score seven unanswered runs, with five of them coming in the seventh inning. UBC would eventually win the game, 12-9.Â
Colby Durski started the game on the mound for the Yotes, breaking the school record for appearances in a season. His 34th appearance was his first start on the mound, as he would pitch three innings while striking out four.
Erik Wisenor was tabbed with the loss, as his season record fell to 4-3.
