Box Score 2 CALDWELL, Idaho - The College of Idaho baseball team took the first two games from the Corban Warriors, winning 12-6 and 9-4. Strong starting pitching helped lead the Yotes to victory.
Three Yotes had multiple RBI's in game one as
Jonah Hultberg,
Skyler Sadora, and
Dillon Danner each drove in two runs to contribute to the Yotes offense. Thanks to a six run bottom of the fourth, the Yotes were able to jump out to a 8-2 lead midway through the ballgame.Â
Brad Pellkofer came in to pinch hit for the Warriors in the top of the ninth inning in game one, hitting a two-run homerun to contribute to Corban's offense. Reese Fawley also singled early in the game, driving in two to lead Corban.Â
Connor Root went five and a third innings while striking out four to earn the win, improving his record to 4-3.
Colby Durski and
Erik Wisenor came in relief without allowing a run to secure the victory.
In game two, the Yotes offense was led by
Ben Gaff, who drove in three runs on a 1-4 performance.
Ben Dudley and
Jonah Hultberg led the team in hits, each contributing two.
Corban jumped out to a 2-0 lead by the top of the third thanks to sacrifice flies from Kairos Torres and Kyle Clay. The other two runs from Corban came on a Tyler Covalt double. Torres finished the game with two RBI's on two sacrifice flies.
Dimick Wood got the start for the Yotes in game two, going six innings and striking out eight runners. Durski and Wisenor would once again combine in relief, allowing one run with a combined two strikouts to shut the door.
The Yotes will return to Wolfe Field for day two of the weekend series vs. Corban tomorrow at 11 a.m.
