Box Score 2 SPRINGFIELD, Ore. - The College of Idaho baseball team swept today's games with Bushnell, and wins the series with the Beacons after two strong outings today.
Game one of the day was a low scoring contest, as the Yotes win the game, 3-1. The Yotes offense was led by
Alex McFarland-Smith and
Ben Gaff, who both drove in RBI's in the contest.
McFarland went 2-3 in the game with a triple and driving in a run.
Skyler Sadora also contributed to the offense, going 2-5 while also stealing a base in the process.Â
Game one also saw one of the Yotes pitchers break a single season record, as relief pitcher
Erik Wisenor got the save. With the save, that brings Wisenor's save total to nine on the season, breaking the record of eight that he tied in the Oregon Tech series.Â
The top of Bushnell's lineup did a bit of damage, combining for a 4-9 outing against Yote pitching. Noah Montoya drove in the one Beacons run in the game one loss.
Game two was another offensive outburst for the Yotes, adding eight runs to the board, and also earning a shutout on the mound in the win.
Jonah Hultberg was the driving force in the game, going 3-5 with three RBI's and hitting a home run.
Trevor Watkins got the start in center field, going 1-5 with two RBI's on the day.
It was an impressive outing from Yotes pitchers, earning a shutout for the first time this season.
Luke Brewer went six innings and got the win, allowing three hits and striking out five.
Ben Gaff came in relief in the seventh, going three innings, allowing three hits and striking out four, earning the save.
For the Beacons, six different players recorded hits in the contest, and four total runners were left on base.
Next up for the Yotes is a home series with Corban next Saturday and Sunday, April 9-10, at Wolfe Field.
