Yotes Take Two from British Columbia

VANCOUVER, British Columbia – The No. 6 College of Idaho softball team completed a weekend sweep, taking two games from the University of British Columbia on Saturday afternoon. The Yotes were victorious in game one by a 7-0 margin and in the nightcap by a 4-1 advantage.

The two wins raise the record for College of Idaho to 35-8 overall and 20-4 in the Cascade Collegiate Conference. The losses drop the University of British Columbia to 15-17 overall and 12-13 in the CCC.

The 35 wins on the season for the College of Idaho are the sixth most in program history. Over the course of the last two seasons, the Yotes have a record of 89-27.
Game 1
A three-run first and second inning, respectively to start the game to go along with a three multi-hit games from Kaily Christensen, Kaylee MacDannald and Katelyn Wilfert led the visiting Yotes to a 7-0 win in game one. MacDannald and Makenna Luke each drove in a pair to lead the offense. Wilfert was just as dominant in the circle, allowing just two hits and striking out six in the win.

Game 2
Hallie Holland and Kaylee MacDannald each had two hits in the win as the Yotes completed the  sweep of the Thunderbirds with a 4-1 win in the nightcap.

A three-run third inning that saw Kaily Christensen put C of I on the scoreboard with a bases loaded walk, followed by a two-RBI single by Tanner Higgins for the early advantage in the nightcap. A RBI single by Lysette Villegas in the fifth inning extended the lead to 4-0. In the bottom half of the fifth, the Thunderbirds plated a run to cut the deficit to 4-1.
 
Next, the Yotes come back to Symms Field for a weekend series against No. 9 Southern Oregon. The action will get underway with a doubleheader on Friday at 2 p.m. in Caldwell.
