CALDWELL, Idaho – Lexi Navarette went a combined 4-for-5, helping The College of Idaho complete a 4-game sweep of Northwest University, earning 8-1 and 3-2 victories at Symms Field.
The No. 3-ranked Yotes (22-2, 9-0 CCC) remained unbeaten in Cascade Conference play and extended their school-record win streak to 21 games.
Annie Polster allowed just six hits in earning the Game 1 win, while
Katelyn Wilfert fanned four in four innings of 1-hit relief in Game 2 to notch her seventh victory.
C of I took advantage of three first inning errors by the Eagles (5-14, 2-7) in the opener, plating four runs in their first at bat. Both
Hattie Hruza and
Lindsey Jones had RBI singles in the frame. The Yotes would add single runs in the second and the third, with RBI singles from Wilfert and
Tanner Higgins extending the margin to 8-1 in the fifth.
Kylie Smith, Hruza and Navarette each had two hits in the win.
NU took a 1-0 lead in Game 2 as Madisyn Leffle singled, stole second and scored on an infield out – but C of I was able to rally.
Brinley Iverson tied the game in the second with an RBI single and an inning later, Navarette provided the winning run with a RBI triple into the right-center gap.
Navarette had the lone multi-hit game for C of I in the nightcap.
The Yotes hit the road next weekend for a monster match-up in Klamath Falls, Ore., meeting No. 1-ranked Oregon Tech for a pair of doubleheaders.
