Box Score 2 KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. - The No. 3 ranked Yotes softball team saw its school record 21-game winning streak end after two hard fought games with No. 1 Oregon Tech on Friday. The Owls took game one, 3-0 and the nightcap, 7-6.
In game one, OIT starting pitcher Sarah Abramson held the potent C of I offense in check as she allowed just two hits and struck out 11. The win improves her record to 13-2 on the season.
In the loss, C of I was led by
Tanner Higgins, who went 2-for-3 in game one. The 'Yotes starting pitcher
Katelyn Wilfert picked up the loss, moving her record to 7-2. She allowed five hits and three earned runs, while striking out two Owls batters.
Game two saw the explosive bats return for the visitors from Caldwell. C of I struck early, scoring three runs in the top of the second inning thanks to a
Haley Loffer triple down the right field line. The triple by Loffer was one of the seven hits in the nightcap.
Hattie Hruza came up clutch when C of I needed her most, hitting an 0-2, two out, homerun in the top of the 7th inning to tie the game at 6. Hruza and Loffer shared the team lead with three RBIs in the loss.
Thanks to a massive fourth inning, the Owls managed to jump out to a 6-3 lead, before C of I tied it in the top of the seventh on the home run by Hruza. For the Owls, Sarah Abramson came in to pitch in relief in the third inning and held on for the victory.
The two teams will wrap up the series with a twinbill on Saturday at Noon (PST) and 1 p.m. (MT).
