CALDWELL, Idaho – Two-hit days from
Ben Dudley,
Kirby Robertson and
Ben Gaff weren't enough for The College of Idaho, as the Coyotes dropped the series opener with Lewis-Clark State, 12-4, at Wolfe Field.
The No. 2-ranked Warriors (23-1) jumped out to a 6-0 lead after three innings and cruised to the road win. Trent Sellers fanned seven in five innings to earn the win, with Elias Schubert earning the save with four strong innings of relief.
LC struck for four first inning runs, including a Luke White 2-run homer, as the visitors grabbed the big lead.
The Yotes (12-12) got on the board in the fifth on an
Alex McFarland-Smith RBI single and capped the scoring in the ninth on a 2-run homer from
Jonah Hultberg, his seventh of the year.
Wyatt Hankard tossed three strong innings of relief in his season debut for C of I, striking out three, with both
Kyle McPeak and
Hutton Stiles throwing scoreless innings.
The two teams meet tomorrow in a doubleheader, starting at 1 p.m.
