FOREST GROVE, Ore. - A second-set comeback from
Summer Townsend and a straight-set win from
Morgan Leavitt helped The College of Idaho close their Willamette Valley road trip with a 5-4 victory over Pacific University.
Trailing 3-2 after the first two singles matches - the Yotes (2-8) claimed the win by sweeping the No. 3, 5 and 6 singles contests.
Leiana Almaraz evened the match with a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 3 over Valentia Casab-Kleskova, before Townsend rallied from a 4-1 deficit in Set 2 to complete a 6-3, 6-4 win. Leavitt completed the C of I win with a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Riva Patel at No. 6.
C of I claimed 2-of-3 doubles points - as Amaraz and
Anna Willcuts defeated Casab-Kleskova and Jessica Eliquis, 6-3 and
Brooke McNeel and Leavitt earned a 6-4 win over Patel and Gillian Mead.
C of I will play their first match of the season in the Treasure Valley next weekend, meeting the University of Idaho in Boise.
