CALDWELL, Idaho - The College of Idaho softball team put the finishing touches of a series sweep with a 9-1, 7-4 doubleheader sweep of Warner Pacific on Saturday afternoon. The win extends the Yotes winning streak to 13 with the two wins.
C of I, who is now 14-2 overall and 4-0 in CCC play, used the same recipe of its winning streak – solid pitching and hitting – in the wins. Warner Pacific falls to 1-6 overall and 0-4 in the CCC.
Game one saw the Yotes score in every inning with a five-run fourth being the big inning. C of I offense pounded out 10 hits for the fourth double-digit hit attack on the season.
Tanner Higgins went 2-for-2 with a run scored and four RBI. Plus,
Annie Polster limited the Knights to five hits and struck out three in the win.
The Yotes got on the scoreboard when Higgins tripled to the gap in right-center field to score K. Christensen, who had reached on an error to extend the first inning. C of I added to its lead in the second when Navarrete hit an inside-the-park home run to put the host Yotes ahead 2-0. With a 2-0 lead, in the third inning, C of I scored a pair of runs on RBI singles by
Hattie Hruza and Higgins to put the Yotes ahead 4-0. Five runs on five hits in the fourth inning put C of I ahead 9-0.
The Knights spoiled the shutout bid with a run on two hits including a pinch-hit double by Morgan Docke. Despite the run, the Yotes had an eight-run advantage after five innings to end the first game of the twinbill.
The nightcap saw C of I go ahead early with four runs in the first and three in the second en route to a 7-0 lead. Warner Pacific plated a run in the third and three in the seventh for the final margin.

Ambrie Jones went 6.1 innings, scattering nine hits and four runs (four earned) and struck out five to raise her record to 2-0.
Katelyn Wilfert got the final two outs for her first save of the season.
Next, C of I will travel to Salem, Oregon to face Corban on Mar. 4 and 5.
