SALEM, Ore – College of Idaho dropped the opening game of a weekend non-conference series with Corban University, 7-1, at Volcanoes Stadium.
The scheduled second game of the doubleheader was canceled due to rain.
Skyler Sadora had a pair of doubles as part of an 8-hit C of I (9-8) attack and scored the lone Coyote run on a 2-out Warriors error in the sixth inning to cut the deficit to 2-1.
Corban (7-4-1) extended the lead to 4-1 in the bottom of the inning on an RBI double from Morgan Hostetler and a Keenan O'Brien RBI single. The hosts tacked on three insurance runs in the eighth inning, including a two-run O'Brien single.
Connor Root took the loss for the Coyotes, despite throwing six strong innings, allowing four runs on nine hits. Mason Shaw earned the win for the Warriors, allowing five hits in seven innings.
The two teams will look to play a doubleheader, weather permitting, tomorrow at 10 a.m. (PT)
